The Lotus Flower

Good morning to my 499 friends. This week’s nomination comes from our friend Maude Hirst who has seen first hand the incredible work The Lotus Flower charity are doing for women and children that have fled ISIS to avoid a life of abject misery, for fear of being repeatedly raped and forced to live in servitude. This Covid world has decimated much needed funds for this group to continue to save lives and educate but the need for them and the work they do, sadly, is stronger than ever. 

We empower vulnerable women and girls so that they are safe, have opportunities to learn, given the tools to become financially independent and have the freedom to speak out and lead change. We provide safe social spaces inside refugee camps, and we implement various projects to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. It’s a charity called The Lotus Flower who support women and girls impacted by conflict and displacement - the founder Taban who I’ve met is incredible but they’ve lost loads of funding due to Covid.
