Spring is here, the blossom is out, the weather is getting warmer and yet the world still feels dark to many people at the moment.
I can’t imagine how the world looks to Z and how hard it is to make a positive sustainable future for his family while dealing with so many things.
Every week our vigilant group members bring the most amazing people and organisations to our attention and knowing we help once a week is so uplifting.
This week’s nomination is from Lesley, we our contribution helps Z move forward.
Z is an admirable young man with positive plans for his future. He is unemployed but has recently been successful in getting a job in a public facing role. He worries about his mental health as he experiences severe anxiety and has a diagnosis of PTSD. Access to Psychological Therapies (via the GP) has not been helpful to him and has been advised that trauma therapy counselling would be more appropriate. Hehas found a council approved organisation that could help with this. The sessions cost £60 each.
As a teenager Z escaped, with his surviving family, from Syriaafter their village was bombed. Moving to the UK from a camp in Iraq, along with his mother, he grew up caring for his younger sister and 3 other family members with severe learning disabilities. Z will become the families only bread winner.
£500 would go a long way towards helping Z pay for specialist counselling. This would help him manage his trauma, improve his mental health, well -being and enable confidence in his working role.
With great respect from Joe, Jen, Charlotte and Ray….
