Love to Liverpool

Hello all,

Our thoughts this week have been with all those injured or affected in any way by the terrible incident at the Liverpool FC parade last Monday. We wish everyone the best recoveries and healing from the shock and fear caused by what happened.

And when we were contacted by Julie and Chris at 500 Acts of Kindness with a nomination for two of the injured, we knew we wanted to support. The nomination came from Theatr Clwyd in North Wales, where the team are supporting a young artist and her mother who, having escaped the war in Ukraine were then involved in the incident last Monday - both hit and caught under the vehicle that went into the crowd.

Our hearts go out to these two women, just in the process of rebuilding their lives, only to be caught up in another terrifying ordeal.

We checked in with Hester at Theatr Clwyd at the weekend and Sasha was able to move into their new home this week, but is obviously quite traumatised. Our donation and a donation from 500 Acts of kindness have eased the financial burden a bit, so hopefully they can focus on looking after themselves.

We send them all our love.

Jen, Joe, Ray and Charlotte. X

Dear Julie and Chris

I hope this finds you both keeping well?

I hope you don't mind me making a nomination this week.

I was deeply saddened to hear that a young artist, Sasha, who has taken part in (and been an invaluable support to) various engagement activities through Theatr Clwyd, and her Mum have been involved in the Liverpool FC Parade incident - they were both horrifically hit and had to be removed from underneath the vehicle when it finally came to a halt.  They are both in hospital and Sasha's mum is awaiting life-changing (and saving) operations.  Sasha's mum has also helped at Theatr Clwyd in a range of capacities.

They both came to the UK to escape the war in Ukraine and have been building their lives again, not knowing anyone.  They have fully embraced life here and the community in North Wales.

Liam Evans-Ford, Executive Director at Theatr Clwyd, shared the news this morning.  Sasha and her Mum were being supported by Hester Evans, Wellbeing Practitioner and Community Producer at Theatr Clwyd over the weekend as they literally didn't know who else to call - and to support with interpretation etc.

They need a huge amount of support- they had just secured a private tenancy on a flat in Mold on the basis of her mum working two jobs which is now really up in the air- they also need to furnish the property. - they have no family in the UK and Sasha is so overwhelmed.

I would be deeply grateful if this mum and daughter could be supported by the 500 Acts of Kindness - so they know they are not alone in this awful time.  This donation would go some way to taking the pressure off them in terms of their precarious financial position during a time of such stress and uncertainty.

Thanks so much

Suz
