Christmas for Care Leavers

Morning all! This week is a popular choice as it’s been nominated by a whopping 3 different members which I think is a joint record? The amazing writer and all round brilliant egg Lemn Sissay is a care leaver himself and wanted to make sure every young person that has endured so much can look fondly toward Christmas by providing Christmas Dinners up and down the country. The one we’re supporting is in South London and they only had £62!!! We’ve boosted their coffers by £625 with the help of gift aid and you’ve all made a group of young people’s Christmas one to enjoy rather than one to dread. Here’s more about Lemn’s wonderful festive initiative.

The Christmas Dinners is an annual event, established by writer and care leaver, Lemn Sissay OBE whose mission is to ensure no care leaver is alone on Christmas Day. Lemn called for the community to come together to show care leavers that they matter and deserve to have an amazing Christmas Day to remember.

South London Xmas Dinner (SLXD) are run entirely by volunteers who have come together to give young care leavers a very special Christmas Day. These young people have gone through so much, some are very vulnerable due to their upbringing and this year may be their first Christmas living independently and alone.

We need your support to make this Christmas Day happen.

Your donation will show our young guests they are worth investing in and there are people like you who care.

Your kind support will go towards paying for each young person to receive a special Christmas Day dinner, some wonderful presents and an essential hamper each to support them in the days after our Christmas Day event.

More about the brilliant work can be found here:

Here’s the South London nomination: Hey team!!! I would like to nominate this organisation who support care leavers in south London and are fundraising to provide the young people a christmas of love and community They are raising £5,000.00 so £500 from us would definitely help (they have £62.50 at present) Xx

Loads of love
