For a brilliant Mum

Morning everyone, this week's nomination comes from a concerned friend and member Hedydd who wants to provide some much needed help and respite for her friend Seren who is mumming round the clock looking after the additional needs of her young son. Seren has received several nominations from other members and this week's money goes with all our love to an incredible mother who hopefully will be able to breathe a little easier this month.

Dear 500 reasons

I would like to nominate my friend Seren and her family for the £500.

Seren has a five-year-old son who is non-verbal autistic and attends a specialist unit. Although his headteacher has provided written confirmation of his needs, he has still not received a formal diagnosis, which has meant that the family have been unable to access the benefits and financial support they desperately need.

The summer holidays have been particularly difficult. There is no suitable holiday club available for her son, and because he needs such a high level of care, Seren is unable to work during the school holidays. Their finances are already incredibly stretched, and they are struggling to meet their bills.

On top of the financial pressure, Seren provides round-the-clock care for her son, who is a very physical and demanding little boy. She is exhausted and understandably worried about him. He eats very little and sleeps very few hours at night, leaving her constantly concerned about whether he is getting enough nutrition and rest. 

I also know that the grief of losing her father two years ago has weighed very heavily on her on top of everything else. 

Despite all of this, Seren does everything she can to care for her son and her 9 year old daughter and keep their family going. I would love for them to receive this money because it would make a genuinely meaningful difference at a time when they are struggling so much.
