Supporting a hospice and the heroes that work there

Happy Wednesday everyone, we hope all is good with you all.

Our amazing group is so diverse and wonderful, this week we have a lovely nomination which reminded us of the time when we helped nurses buy things for their staffroom in a hospital.

We proposed a split between the hospice itself and the staff/volunteers who work there and are absolute heroes, for something they may need for rest areas, so this week we are splitting the donation between both with the permission of Christine & Pat who sent in the nomination and will work it out for us and we send love.

Here’s the nomination:

Dear Admins,

First of all we'd just like to say a big thanks for all the amazing work you do. So many good causes, it's really heartwarming,

Unusually, we would like to nominate an organisation ourselves. A very dear friend of ours is in St John's Hospice. The hospice is completely free of charge to anyone in the catchment area and provides an impressive range of services focusing on a holistic approach.  The standard is absolutely incredible and they do a vast amount of work outside the Hospice Building in the community as well.

The Hospice staff are delightful and they address all aspects of a person's needs, they are kind and thoughtful. It is a beautifully cared for building, spotlessly clean with general areas to sit quietly in and has a wonderful garden. Visitors are welcomed with great warmth and this brings a lot of comfort in what are inevitably distressing circumstances.

They are only 30% funded by NHS and have to rely on donations and fundraising to make up the difference. Anything 500 reasons could donate would be very much appreciated.

This quote below is from the fundraising dept and says beautifully what their mission statement is:

'Most of our work takes place outside of the hospice walls. We strive to build incredible human connections, compassion and care happening throughout our community every single day. Our hospice isn't about death, it's about celebrating and amplifying life. Enabling people to live well for as long as possible.'

with much love from

Christine and Pat
