Morning all! This week we want you to dust off your snazziest suit and get your posh frock out of moth balls because we’re having a party. Well...we’re not. Jane is. Life has thrown so much at her and she wanted to celebrate her 80th by thanking all of her friends and family for their unconditional love and support during an unimaginably tough time for her. I hope she has a brilliant time. Here’s the nomination in full:
Hello lovely ones, I’d like to nominate a dear family friend Jane. Two years ago she had to have her leg amputated. It started with the removal of the toe, then foot, then leg. She cared for her mother who had had the very same thing happen to her so knew what was up ahead. Before the last operation she had a mini heart attack. Surgery was a huge risk and we all said our goodbyes incase she didn’t make it through...she did though and through a lot of pain and hard-work managed to start walking again. She was getting back to version of herself. Her determination inspiring all of us. Then last April she suffered a stroke, she lost movement and the ability to speak. She had to be in hospital for months and has only just started getting speech back, she has a wicked sense of humour so we are all thrilled to be able to share a bit of gallows humour with her again. She’s back home at the moment with live in carers which are a vast expense but absolutely worth it, we don’t know what will happen in the long term but for now she is enjoying being back in her own space. This month will mark her 80th birthday and she’s organised a Sunday roast for friends and family in two weekends time. She is an incredibly proud woman so I haven’t told her I’m nominating her but I know it would mean the world to her and go towards a wonderful celebration of a courageous woman. Hope you are all well. Best wishes, Maggie Service
