Morning! Sometimes the sheer relentlessness of life can feel entirely overwhelming and thank goodness for the incredible goodness of people. People like you, people like Tabitha who has dedicated her life to the betterment of others. It’s heartening to read of your generosity and dedication to the well being of others. Whatever life throws at us and our respective communities let’s take heart in our ability to galvanise as a small group and try and make it a little easier for someone every single week. Here’s Tab’s nomination:
Hi lovely 500 Admin,
Since hanging up my tights, many moons ago, I am now halfway though my degree in Social Work and working as a caseworker in Children's Services in East Sussex.
As funding dries up, minute by minute, we’re constantly referring families to the charity sector. However, we found out today that the Family Fund, which provides grants for children with disabilities is not new accepting applications.
I’d like to nominate this family, who urgently need a specialist bed for their 12 year old daughter who has Pancolonic Hypermobility and associated bladder dysfunction. Mum is her full time carer and she requires a bed which can accommodate the equipment needed to look after her, such as blood pressure machine, stoma kits, catheters, dressings and all hygiene supplies, as her daughter has to be woken for treatment multiple times a night. Mum’s older son has a diagnosis of ASC and so she is managing a huge level of need for both her children.
It would transformative and, frankly, magical if we would provide the funds to change their day to day.
Thanks for reading and lots love,
Tabs x
