Morning all! As we turn our attention to the new year and a bitterly cold January,  Bristol's Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is a city-wide plan to ensure the safety of people sleeping rough during dangerous or cold weather.

Fortunately there are incredible people all doing fantastic work across the UK to help homeless people everywhere and get them the assistance they require and help them back on their feet. So when one of those people like our wonderful member Sophie reaches out to see if we could help, our answer is a resounding yes!

As always, If you know of anyone or any group that could benefit from our help then drop us a line. We’re always listening x

Hi admins!
Happy new year!

I would like to throw in a bid for the £500 please!

We have three people that we are supporting from ‘homelessness to belonging’ (as part of Housing justice’s Citadel Bristol project) in their new tenancies who are in desperate need of a laptop.
I would love to use the 500 to buy them laptops to help them in various ways.

Person one is looking for work, trying to do CV’s and job applications from his phone. He also talks to family in another country on FaceTime regularly and would also use his laptop for work.

Person two is also looking for work and does lots of volunteering - including with our project as someone with lived experience of homelessness, and is doing online training courses from an old phone with a tiny screen. A laptop would be life changing for her.

The third person also has family in another country he could use the laptop to talk to. He lives in a HMO with no tv so could use his laptop for tv too.
He has also just signed up to an online gambling addiction recovery group but needs to do this on teams and his phone is not suitable.

A laptop would be an absolute game changer for these people.
I have been approaching companies about donating but they are sending me in circles and I love that at 500 reasons we just avoid that red tape so thought I’d come to you guys…

Much love
Soph Mercer ❤️
