Alright you lovely lot? We’ve split the pot this week between a community hero that has had her car smashed by a couple of kids on electric scooters with her insurance not paying out and a group of homeless people being taken on a day trip to Cheddar
Have a read to both nominations from the wonderful Vikki and Sophie here!
Hi lovely peeps!
So one lovely mum in Shirehampton was driving nearby and two young lads on electric scooters rammed her car which has resulted in her passenger door needing replacement and scratches all over that side of the car. Then just left!
The police are no longer investigating this and Gill is left with a hefty bill she can’t afford and her insurance going up next year.
Gill does a lot in our community, she has set up an amazing charity group called Extraordinary links which funds and delivers activities and services for disabled people in our area. She is also disabled herself with two children with additional needs also. Her car is her only way of getting around.
I’d love it if we could ease her burden and show some kindness to a woman who does so much for people in need herself.
Thank you 😊
Vicki
And Sophie’s
Hi all,
I would love to nominate the project I work for to receive the £500.
I work for a charity supporting people who have experienced homelessness and now have their first tenancy (usually a room in a HMO).
We recruit and train volunteers to support people to sustain their tenancy and integrate into their community, making friends away from their previous friendship groups or networks.
We recently asked for ideas on what sort of activities they would like to be part of, and a day trip somewhere was the top answer amongst the group of 22 supported people from a mixed demographic!
Many of the group said they had not been on a day trip since school, so I am now on a mission to make this happen!!
They have chosen Cheddar (good cider and cheese was the reason given and you can’t argue with that)
but the very small budget we are working with (which we have had to raise by fundraising- quiz night, music gig, fun run etc- won’t stretch to much more than petrol for half the people to get there, and I’d love to make it available to everyone and be able to treat everyone to lunch - I feel like expecting people to buy their own will exclude people.
Who doesn’t need a fun day out singing rude chants on the back of the bus eh?
Thanks for considering us
