Always Precious

Morning all! Since our inception 8 years ago we have 10 different completely autonomous groups all over the UK and in Ukraine and Ghana using the 500 Reasons model to bestow acts of kindness bespoke to the wants and needs of their own communities. Occasionally we ask other groups if they’d like to consider nominations that might need a little extra support and sometimes they, in the spirit of reciprocity ask us. Today is one of those weeks and we’re grateful to Holly at Bristol 500 for nominating this poor family. Here’s the nomination:
Hi Joe,
It is looking likely we will be giving £500 to this family on Friday. I don't suppose you would be up for including them in 500 Reasons next week?
We will give the money to Sharon who is a regular nominator as she works with pretty vulnerable families.
Thanks
H
> In this family there is mum, dad and a boy of 10 who is severely autistic and requires specialist education and a girl of 5.
> Dad used to work for the NHS full time but due to health needs (he nearly passed away) he has spent most of last year in hospital and no longer has his professional role.
> He has had to put in a claim for disability benefit which he is waiting for hopefully.
> Mum has lived in the UK for over 12 years but still has no resource for public funds so she cannot claim any money.
> They struggle to make ends meet and often can’t afford food for the family.
> The oldest boy due to his additional needs is currently not in education (and really needs 2-1 support) so mum is caring for him and her husband who is very unwell and she is close to breaking point from a mental health perspective.
> They are all so lovely and kind and could really do with having a change of luck.
