Hi everyone, thank goodness for every single one of you. Diligent, kind, fair minded people that want to bring a little kindness each and every week. This week’s nomination comes from bloomin’ good egg Nathalie who met an older chap and wanted to see that he was okay. He wasn’t and after she was able to help him she thought maybe we could all help him further. Of course we can. It feels unfathomable that in this country of our an elderly man should have to cook food on a bbq cos he can’t get the electricity to cook in his own house. I’m sure you’ll join us in thanking Nathalie for going the extra mile as she so often does and sending all of our luck and love to Matthew. Here’s the nomination in full
Hello friends
I hope you’re all good?
I’d like to nominate an older man Matthew I met yesterday. My friend and I met him in a square last night and it looked like he was having a community BBQ. We got talking to him and it transpired he lives in a Peabody house, (an old one that he’s lived in 30 Years ) that has damp, the toilet and pipes leak - Peabody aren’t responding to messages for repairs and he has just changed electric providers but the electric hasn’t transferred onto his electric key and he’s been chasing the provider without a reply hence he was making a small BBQ & cooking a bunch of food to eat over the next couple of days. He mentioned in passing that he’d got his food from a food bank and had been given a voucher from age concern for his electric. He Said he’d been feeling fed up and we had come along at the right time.
After he’d eaten, we helped him pack his BBQ up and carry his belongings back to his home and he was visibly moved that people had stopped to spend time with him.
I have his address as we dropped off his bbq for him and it would be great if there are funds to give him a portion of the money if not all of the amount so he can maybe get some repairs or buy some food, keep his electricity topped up.
Thanks for the consideration
Nat x
