Hello to you all,
We’re hoping everyone is getting a bit of time to enjoy the summer with family or friends.
This week we are splitting the pot again to support the families of two kids who have both been very poorly. We hope that our small gifts will help them to have a bit of fun this summer and make some great memories.
Big thanks to Lee and Sarah for these nominations. We are so grateful to know so many of you with your eyes and hearts attuned to those who need our help.
Big love from all of us at HQ.

From Lee:
Harlyn is just 8 years old and has a giggle that makes her heart swell. Last year, she was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). DIPG is a rare, aggressive, and currently incurable brain tumour found in the pons, a part of the brainstem. It primarily affects children, particularly between the ages of 5 and 10. DIPG is characterized by its diffuse nature, meaning it spreads throughout the pons, making surgical removal impossible due to the risk of damaging vital brain functions. The tumour's location and the lack of effective treatments result in a very poor prognosis, with most patients surviving less than a year after diagnosis. Harlyn has so far outlived this prognosis and is spending her days enjoying the local beaches and the water while she can. Harlyn's parents have decided not to tell Harlyn of her prognosis as they want her remaining time to be happy and joyful and without fear.
Harlyn's parents have started a fundraiser to purchase a beach wheelchair for Harlyn and other poorly children (it will be kept at the hospice) . Current beach wheelchairs are not supportive and are super bulky and heavy. They just aren't designed with children in mind. The wheelchair that Harlyn's parents want to buy is lightweight and supportive but expensive.

Thanks for the consideration.

From Sarah:
I work in the children’s hospital in Cardiff and out team are currently treating an 8yr old boy who is heading into week six of an inpatient stay. He has had an incredibly hard year following a rare auto immune diagnosis and multiple treatments that have failed to reduce his symptoms. He is one of the bravest boys I’ve met and has a family that do their absolute utmost for him with the limited financial resource they have. He has been on a tricky journey of hope and set backs and is finally starting to show sufficient progress to go home and continue his rehab from there. His parents have had to reduce their work to look after him and his siblings, and reasons to be cheerful have been difficult to find over the time since his diagnosis. But, they keep smiling and keep showing up for him and he in turn gives his all to rehab. I would like to nominate the family to receive a donation to fund a day out, a family occasion, a fun day to look forwards to that they would otherwise be not able to do, and give him a special something to looks forwards to on his discharge from hospital. He is hopefully going to be discharged from hospital next Friday but his rehab will continue for the 12 months. He really is such a brave soul.
Thank you so much for considering his story, Sarah
