Two wonderful nominations

Good morning to our lovely community,

As summer looks like it’s about to say hello to us, we’ve had some amazing nominations come through. Please continue to send them in while our group continues spreading kindness wherever we can.

This week, we have decided to split the pot, as we received two nominations for two truly inspirational children. We wanted them both to not only receive some financial help from us, but also to know that there are over 500 humans sending them so much love and strength.

The first nomination comes from our member Gemma Pontin, who knows first-hand the difference the right wheelchair can make to someone’s life. Gemma nominated the lovely Maddison.

Our second nomination comes from the brilliant Steph, who wanted us to show support for the extremely brave Roman and his family.

We are sending them both so much love.

Both nominations are below.

Love,

Donate to Get Maddison Moving, organised by Susan Davies

Four-year-old Maddison Davies uses a wheelchair on a daily basis.

Her mother, Chloe Davies, 26, a former Army medic from Brynmawr, was advised during pregnancy to consider termination. However, Chloe says it was never an option she would have considered.

Before Maddison was born, surgeons carried out a pioneering operation at 24 weeks to close a lesion on her spine and repair the embryo sac before safely placing her back inside her mother’s womb — a procedure that gave her family hope from the very beginning. Maddison became one of the first babies within the Aneurin Bevan Health Board to undergo life-changing surgery in the womb.

Since then, she has been fighting to live a full and active life.

Her family are fundraising for a state-of-the-art wheelchair attachment to help give her greater freedom and independence.

Maddison said:

“I want to go super-fast, but my arms get tired and the teachers have to help me. I’d like to go down to the beach and the field.”

Maddison also wants to experience racing against her three-year-old brother, Finley.

“I’d like to go faster with Finley and race him down the field,” she added.

Maddison’s grandmother, Sue Davies, said she has been overwhelmed by the kindness of those who have donated to help Maddison achieve her dream and gain greater independence.

Speaking about the fundraising efforts, Sue said:

“Everyone’s been so kind. We want to get her a pink chair — she’s really girly in that way — and she refuses to wear her gloves for her chair now, so her little hands are freezing.”

Speaking about Finley, she added:

“It’s difficult when she sees him running and she wants to keep up with her brother.”

I would be so grateful if you would consider this nomination to allow a little girl to keep up with her siblings and peers. Maddison is such an inspirational young lady — a true fighter.

Roman’s Nomination

Hello all,

Please could you consider this nomination. Roman and his family are having an awful time and need support.

Thank you.
