Morning all!
Firstly, it’s our great pleasure to announce that this week is our 9th anniversary! It’s a real team effort and we’re so grateful to everyone involved for your unwavering love and humanity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
This week we were asked a question by our lovely member Tabitha who gives her life in servitude of young people that need a little more help and the question is simply :
Can we help a lovely 4 year old boy to feel the breeze on his face?
Course we can! Here's the nomination:
Me again! Once more, I’m asking you wonderful humans to fill the gaps in local authority funding that one of my families is experiencing.
Leo is 4 years old and a much loved little boy with a recent diagnosis of autism. His level of need is high, Leo is nonverbal, and whilst on a couple of occasions, Leo has turned his head when his name has been called, he generally does not respond to communication and needs to be led by the hand at all times. Leo becomes dysregulated by environmental and social triggers on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day, and will cry, scream, bang his head on the floor or hit himself. This makes keeping Leo safe extremely challenging for his parents. What Leo really loves is being outside, feeling the breeze on his face and jumping up and down, which makes laugh. However, now is 4 it is becoming more and more challenging to get him safely to outside space without a specialist SEND buggy, which his paediatrician has recommended that the family use. Frustratingly, parents have been told that they do not qualify for funding as Leo’s diagnosis is considered behavioural and not clinical/mobility based.
Please could the 500 consider helping this lovely little boy feel the breeze on his face?
Lots of love to you all,
Tabs x
