Our 400th Week!!!!

Today is a huge land mark. 400 weeks ago we asked you to believe in something different. A chance for a bunch of disparate strangers that may think differently, vote differently, worship differently coming together to make a positive change to the lives of others wherever they found people in need. There are over 10 completely autonomous groups emulating our model and absolutely thriving in their own communities both here and abroad in places such as Ukraine and Ghana. Without your belief and continued, unwavering support none of that would be possible from the bottom of our hearts we thank you. 400 weeks means £200,000 for incredible causes and the lives you’ve been able to change for the better are legion. THANK YOU 

This week’s nomination is from a long standing member that has given her life in servitude to helping Bristol’s homeless.

Good morning admins, 

We are a community and volunteer led project to support those who have been effected by homelessness and have been recently housed to sustain their tenancy, integrate into their new community and feel happy and settled into their new home. 

I work for Housing Justice as a volunteer coordinator on the Bristol Citadel project. 

Citadel is a volunteer led, community based tenancy sustainment and community integration project.

We recruit, train and support volunteers to provide one to one friendship and tenancy support to people who have previously been rough sleeping, and have just been housed by the council. 

This project is funded by the Center for Homelessness Impact but the budget for any extras is tiny weenie (£2 per supported person per month) 

We would love our volunteers to be able to offer to help the people they support in sourcing second hand furniture for their new flat, helping with decorating or buying essential items to make their new place a home they can be proud of and feel settled in. 

I would love to nominate this project for the £500 as it will make a real impact on peoples lives and I believe everyone deserves a home they love. 

We are also looking for volunteers in Bristol, Hastings, Sheffield, Cornwall and London if anyone is interested in hearing more….
