Marmalade Christmas Cheer

Morning all! Now Halloween and Bonfire Night are behind us I guess we turn our attentions to Christmas? I have very kindly been asked to turn on the Christmas Lights in Clifton Village in Bristol tonight and the lovely Clifton traders have said in return they’d like to give 500 Reasons £500 so we thought why not double up on a Christmassy donation to people less fortunate than many of us this festive season.

Loneliness at this time can be heartbreaking and the wonderful people at The Marmalade Trust have come together to forge their Christmas Cheer project.

They offer group Christmas lunches or doorstep social visits for people that are unable to attend.

Their mission is to bring joy and companionship to people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.

They say  “Christmas time usually conjures up joyful images of family and friends celebrating, exchanging gifts, excited chatter and delicious food. For some people, however, it can be a dreaded, sad and lonely time. Marmalade Trust understands how difficult Christmas can be for someone who is struggling with loneliness.

We don’t want anyone to spend Christmas Day alone if they don’t want to, so we invite them to join us for a free festive lunch on the big day, or a doorstep visit. Members are those who feel particularly lonely and isolated this year, for example, a person of an older age who may have no family or friends around. Everyone is made to feel part of the Marmalade family!”

That sounds exactly like the spirit of Christmas to us so we’d like to offer them £1000 to help spread some festive cheer.

Loads of love
