Happy Spring and Eid Mubarak!
As we enjoy longer days (even the occasional sunny one!), green shoots and beautiful flowers appearing everywhere, many of us are feeling a lift in our shoulders and - excuse the pun - a spring in our step as we start to really open our hearts to 2026!
And as we start to move towards the heady, chocolatey craziness of Easter, we thought it was a good time to support this wonderful early years setting in Scotland who are at the mercy of rising (and unexpected) costs, whilst still remaining a safe and fun place for small children to play and learn and grow.
Thanks to Pippa for this nomination. We wish the nursery and all its little attendees, all the best.
Had a great week…
Much love,
The admins.
Dear 500 Reasons,
I am hoping to nominate the community playgroup I am Chair of. It is a lovely, local community run early years play space which has never truly recovered from Covid and then got hit by a rent increase from the landlords. As you see in the papers, childcare provision is falling apart, despite supposedly getting more investment and our little community group is struggling under the weight of minimal local investment and major bureaucracy. Recently we came under some extra costs as we had to recruit for 3 of the 5 paid positions in our team, which incurred additional costs for an already stretched little group. If we were to receive the £500 it would just give us a little breathing space as we find our feet again after a shaky time.https://holycorner.org is our website if you want to check it out.
Thanks so much,
Pippa Evans
