Happy Wednesday to our lovely community.
This weeks nomination comes from two of our members from Nantyglo, a tight knit community that are doing their upmost to support a family who are having a really tough time. I hope we show this family that there is another community showing them love and support.
I know we have said this before, but I don’t want or imagine how hard it must be to see your child being so poorly, but the idea that money worries add to that must be so stressful, added by the fact that most of these hospital car parks are owned by private contractors who make a huge profit from these expenses to poorly people, we felt we it was right to help.
Here is Grahams and Kathleen’s nomination in full.
Dearest 500 reasons,
I am writing this to see if we can help this deserving family.
Thomas Morgan is 12 years old boy and an amazing cricketer, just before Christmas he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, he was operated on immediately, he is just about to start his chemotherapy treatment . He will now be wheelchair dependent. Him and his family will be foreseeing a lot of hospital visits and stays, it is wonderful that England has instated a measure to support families on these awful cancer journey to helping with travel cost but this sadly has not been rolled out in Wales. I have lived experience of attending copious amounts of hospital visits with my daughter when she was a child, and the fact that money needed to pay for petrol and parking added to the already awful stress load and aniexty. The local Rugby club, which I am a life time member of, has started a fund raising campaign to support this lovely family on this heart breakingly hard journey.
We know £500 could help ease some of the strain for them, and also let the family know that 500 strangers are sending them support.
With thanks
Graham and Kathleen.
